Poor thing, he was very clearly struggling vocally throughout the show. However, he was still incredible in the part, despite the voice cracks and alternate notes. His voice seemed to be back for a stunning "Pity The Child." The entire cast is just stunning. The energy of this crowd is amazing, especially for a matinee. All four leads and Bryce Pinkham got entrance applause. Every single cast member is simply amazing. A truly special night of theater.

Chess Theatre Royal, Drury Lane August 2, 2022 (Audio) Hadley Fraser (Anatoly Sergievsky), Samantha Barks (Florence Vassy), Joel Harper-Jackson (Freddie Trumper), Frances Mayli McCann (Svetlana), Ako Mitchell (Arbiter), and Craige Els (Ivan Molokov) Notes: Only to be gifted, not traded. I was at this performance, and Joel, Hadley & Sam were all incredible. 'Bangkok' and 'Anthem' were a bit underwhelming, but these versions of 'Pity the Child' and 'Where I Want to Be' are gorgeous. Multiple reviews called PTC the best performance of any song so far this year and… yeah, I can believe it. Ako as the Arbiter was either miscast or ill, unfortunately.
